When television director Glenn Weiss won an Emmy Award in 2018 for "Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special: The Oscars", he didn't use his time on stage to give a speech. In front the nearly 2,000 people in the audience, and 7.4 million people watching at home, Weiss- instead- gave a diamond ring.
Standing at the microphone, Weiss spoke directly to his (then) girlfriend, Jan Svendsen, who was sitting in the audience. As you can see in the video above, she was very surprised.
Svendsen joined her award-winning fiancé on stage to a standing ovation from those in attendance so Weiss could get down on one knee in front of her and complete the proposal with his mother's diamond ring that his father used in his proposal, 67 years prior.
