When it comes to planning a proposal, timing is everything. While waiting for the “perfect” moment is standard practice when popping the question. Self-described “spontaneous improviser” Edi Okoro took this idea to the extreme—and he has a hilarious Facebook album to prove it.
For an entire month, Okoro secretly snapped photographs of his girlfriend, Cally Read, unknowingly posing with an engagement ring. Showing the diamond just inches away from Read as she slept, stood in line, and even stared straight at the camera, the series of 20 photos illustrates the lengths Okoro went to in order to both catch his girlfriend off-guard and to propose in a way that suited his spur-of-the-moment approach.
“Some plan a flash mob, a fancy meal, or even arrange a ‘marry me’ sign. I couldn’t do this because ‘Edi doesn’t plan,’ ” he explained. “This made it even more of a challenge because Cally knows this, and the moment I planned a holiday or meal she would have clocked on to what I was about to do. Because of this I took the ring with me everywhere hoping the ‘moment’ would arise in line with my spontaneous style.”
As the days-long proposal progressed into weeks, Okoro challenged himself to push the envelope even further. “The idea was to take as many photos as possible, in more daring scenarios, until I found the perfect moment to propose,” he elaborates, “or until I got caught, at which point I would propose!”
Aiming not to miss the “perfect moment,” Edi brought the engagement ring with him everywhere — and even showed it off in front of his oblivious girlfriend in a hilarious photo series.
Fortunately, the “moment” finally came before Read could catch Okoro in the act. Though he has yet to spill the details. He did, however, share a final selfie. This time, however, the engagement ring is finally on Read’s finger.
