Bridal Market Runway: Mark Zunino 2016 Collection At Kleinfeld

Mark Zunino‘s 2016 collection was an ode to contemporary bridal fashion and self-expression. Opening the Kleinfeld runway with a short laser cut lace romper and chiffon layered over-skirt, the designer presented a daring and unique collection. Much like the New York bride, Mark’s bride is a progressive woman with modern taste that can own modish bridal silhouettes and distinctive details.
From curve-hugging structured dresses to bold couture ball-gowns, Zunino played with a black and white palette to break tradition and highlight originality. Using all-natural fabrics like silk and cotton, and enhancing the silhouettes with embroidered net, beaded illusion over nude and lace over crepe, the collection walked a line between refinement and drama.
The show ended with a black and white floral print silk ball gown hand-painted by Mark Zunino himself, with a jet, topaz and crystal encrusted bodice and matching veil.

Bridal Market Runway: Monique Lhuillier Fall 2016 Collection
The Fall 2016 Monique Lhuillier collection was inspired by a romantic opulent garden. The models walked down the runway between hand-painted walls with wisteria flowers. The very chic yet intimate decor was in perfect harmony with the ultra-feminine gowns that were presented.
The voluminous silhouettes in layers of tulle created a very enchanted feel to the collection that was modernized by plunging necklines, low backs and sensual off the shoulder styles. The designer used a romantic color palette of blush shades, ivory and latte to maintain even the most beaded gowns very soft and delicate. Embellished sheer sleeves and detachable skirts were beautiful contemporary additions to this dreamy collection.

The Pnina Tornai Fall/Winter 2016 Wind Over Water collection was inspired by how wind moves water, creating reflections of light, and waves that break and fluff as they hit the sand. Combining water-like crystals, unique laces, wavy ruffles, and pearls, the designer reminded her audience of why she’s a leading name in bridal couture.
From flowing chiffons to coral-inspired laces, each gown showcased seamless construction and detail. The 24-piece collection was composed of versatile silhouettes from princess-like ballgowns to bold avant-garde creations.
Of course the signature Pnina Tornai mermaid dresses with a structured beaded bodice and dramatic skirts were a big part of the show. The designer, however, added a contemporary touch, introducing jumpsuits, kaftans, and fringes to the collection.

Bridal Market Runway: Dennis Basso F/W 2016 Collection At Kleinfeld
We could not have asked for a more beautiful, elegant collection from Dennis Basso when we kicked off Bridal Market at the Kleinfeld runway. Reminding us that traditional with an edge will never be out-of-style, the opening dress set the tone for the show, a tea-length A-line tulle gown with a sweetheart bodice and a beaded belt.
Inspired by the New York bride and her fabulous lifestyle, the collection brought dynamic dresses with pockets and straps, while keeping the glamour with dramatic backs and lots of embroidery. The runway show concluded with two magnificent gowns that were true Couture pieces. One being the short version of the other, both in ivory silk jacquard with pleated skirts.

Bridal Market Runway: Rivini by Rita Viniers F/W 2016

Rita Vinieris presented her Alyne collection at the Carnegie Hall’s beautiful Weill Music Room following with the Rivini fashion show. Inspired by an imaginary frozen garden, the runway was set between glass windows and glass chairs. The collection had a winter feel to it that was perceived on the details.
From crystallized paillette sheets to translucent tulle and Chantilly lace panels, the dresses matched the modern makeup and hair that were embellished with little square squeals that looked like snowflakes.
Vinieris’s sense of what the contemporary brides want shaped a collection that was certainly one of the most modern shows of this Bridal Market.
