The best view of Manhattan, is just outside of Manhattan! Anyone who has ever left Manhattan across the 59thStreet bridge may have noticed a colorful, stylish building rising above Long Island City’s industrial chic waterfront. The Z NYC Hotel presents a fresh, unique venue in Long Island City, with a chic vibe, outstanding amenities, and one of the most electric rooftop spaces anywhere.

Earlier this year, this sparkling Manhattan-adjacent gem added something new; Villa Enrico. The restaurant, which can be booked for private events for up to 200 guests, presents a fresh and exciting Italian menu. This past Wednesday evening Villa Enrico hosted a special dinner to acquaint and familiarize the New York City dining community with its brand of Italian fare.

Villa Enrico At The Z NYC Hotel is just minutes from midtown Manhattan, yet still adequately spaced from the isle to really take in the grandeur that even the locals rarely get to experience. This flexible space is equipped with modern amenities to keep the energy high, and modern decor to complement its trendy atmosphere. However, its menu flaunts an old-time, family style sensibility.
Wednesday night’s menu showcased Villa Enrico’s standout menu selections- expertly executed creations for which the restaurant will soon be well-known. The first of the many courses was a crisp, simple Caesar Salad, topped with the perfect amount of parmesan. Next came a fresh Cold Seafood Salad, with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari, drizzled with lemon and olive oil. As with the salad before it, Villa Enrico does not attempt to re-invent the wheel with this classic offering. It simply presents the best wheel possible. With the gorgeous weather finally here to stay, it was noticed by most at the table that this Seafood Salad was a great summer dish.

Next on the evening’s menu was the Pasta Sampler, although this was presented not as one course, but threecourses, each of which surpassed the one before it in flavor. As is the case with true Italian cuisine, simplicity prevails- the less Villa Enrico does, the more it offers.

Following the pastas, the restaurant successively brought out two all-star entrées. The first was a Whole Grilled Branzino. For those that have never tried this traditional dish, Villa Enrico prepares it in a timeless manner, elevating old-style to fine dining. After the Branzino came the Lollipop Lamb Chops- grilled baby lamb chops. Like the entrée it followed, this dish looked like artwork on a plate. It tasted that way, too.
